Unforgettable Characters

Well, this week I dropped off my old laptop at my grandmother’s neighbor. It is the computer Amethyst Epiphany and the first eight chapters of Crimson Betrayal (which I’m thinking of renaming Crimson Desire) on it. It’s a fairly old computer – I’ve had it since my college days and I graduated five years ago. I’m hoping that he can salvage my story from the computer that is far past kaput. I know it should be somewhere on the hardrive, so hopefully he can take the start of the sequel and put it on a flash drive or cd for me so I can upload it onto this computer and keep working on it. That would be ideal.

No idea how long that will take.

I’m fairly excited about Amethyst Epiphany. There’s still a lot of work to do marketing wise, but I’m confident I can do it. Just have to brace myself for unforeseen complications and come up with solutions to problems.

But I know Calliope and company are more than ready to make their arrival into this world. I hope that you’ll all enjoy them as much as I do.

This story is very emotional driven and character driven with lots of magic and lessons along the way. I have so many ideas for the sequels that I hope that I get to work on them very soon. I have more ideas for the third book than the second, but I remind myself that I must finish the second first.

It was funny when I was first working on this I hadn’t expected it to be a trilogy. But the characters have minds of their own and insisted their story could not be told in one book, and after writing the first book, I quite agree. I fell in love with each and everyone of them along the way. Even the villains hold a place in my heart, not as big a place as the heroes though, because evil people are icky. Ha ha.

Have you ever read stories of characters that just couldn’t leave you? What made them so unforgettable?

Some News!

Great news, everyone! Received an email from my editor yesterday: Amethyst Epiphany is scheduled to come out in October. I’m excited! Yet I’m also nervous. A lot of work to do marketing wise, at least. My editor would like to me to double my social media followers both in April and in May.

So if you and any of your friends are interested in following my writing endeavors please feel free to friend me on facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/authorlindamcrate. You can also add me on twitter: thysilverdoe. These are the social media outlets I’m to target the most. However, I am  also on tumblr: http://thysilverdoe.tumblr.com/, deviantart: http://thysilverdoe.deviantart.com/, linked in: www.linkedin.com/pub/linda-crate/70/580/19a/. The purpose, of course, is to reach as many possible people as I can.

So feel free to follow me any of these places if you’d like to know more about me and my upcoming novel. I’m pretty shy, but I’m friendly. At least on line. In person you may have to pull my teeth to get me over my awkwardness, but I’m more social than I used to be.

Get ready to swim with the mermaids, fly with the fan, and swoon over the elves among other things. 😉 Did I mention I’m pretty excited? I can’t wait for you to get my book, and I hope that you all enjoy the start of the journey. It’s a trilogy.
